Golf cart ride to a pizza food truck, anyone?

Yes, you heard that right. There is a pizza food truck, and it is only a golf cart ride away.  There are so many wonderful things about Crystal Beach, and I plan to share as many of them as I can find (I am a little bit high on the beach life right now!) Mama Mia’s (said pizza food truck) is one of those wonderful things.

Not only is the food great, but the vibe is awesome.  It backs up to a pretty lake and the atmosphere feels something like a Kenny Chesney song (no shoes, no shirt, no problem.)  I have some free-spirited kids and there is no problem taking them here.  The girls just run around and play while we wait for the food.  (Big sigh of mama relief at not having to constantly correct them!)

Relax and eat pizza? Yes please!  Ride home on a golf cart instead of battling Houston traffic, I've died and gone to heaven.

What?? No Schedule?

Having the opportunity to get away has been such a blessing to our family.  We have really nothing to complain about.  Sam and I both like our jobs, and the kids seem to like their school.  We have great friends and great neighbors who over the years have become like family.  This has been awesome for us since we aren’t originally from the Houston area.

But the day to day grind, (uh) it can become overwhelming.  We run on a tight schedule to make everything happen.  Although we’ve been intentional about not overbooking, just the work/school stuff keeps you going.

That all goes away as soon as we see the ocean.  We like to come in through Winnie.  It just seems faster, I guess because you are moving the whole time; not sitting at lights or waiting on the ferry. (which really isn’t that long, my goodness I’m impatient.)

But I think the real reason I like coming in through Winnie is the road that leads from High Island to Hwy 87, basically drives you into the Ocean (I mean you make a turn on to 87.  Don’t worry you won’t drive into the ocean.)  That moment though, when you are just face to face with the ocean, everything else just falls away.  The hustle and bustle, the fifteen hundred mom questions you have running through you mind (is it crazy sock day Tuesday?) gone.  Until we leave, it is just our little family at the beach and it is amazing!

New Year Eve at the Beach!

Crystal Beach has a strong fireworks culture. It is filled with people who love where they live and love to be outside enjoying the beautiful scenery. This is our fourth New Year eve at the beach and every year there is a dazzling fireworks display! The sky is lit up with people enjoying their friends and family, celebrating the passing of another year, and welcoming, in hopeful anticipation, another year!

It is one of our favorite times of the year to be at the beach. A cozy fire and a blanket, being in each other's company and slowing down to reflect about the year passing and dream about what is to come in!
